PD Charging System
This alternator uses a PD-type connection, meaning the vehicle’s ECU manages the charging voltage rather than a conventional internal voltage regulator.
P Terminal – Phase / W Signal
The P terminal provides a frequency-based signal related to alternator speed. The signal voltage is typically approximately half of the charging voltage.
Examples:
12–14V charging system → approximately 6–7V signal
28V charging system → approximately 14V signal
As alternator speed increases, the pulse frequency increases, allowing the vehicle system to determine alternator or engine speed.
D Terminal – Drive / Control Signal
The D terminal uses an ECU-controlled signal to manage the alternator’s required charging output. The ECU adjusts this signal according to the vehicle’s electrical requirements.
Important: This PD-controlled alternator should only be installed on a compatible PD charging system. Incorrect application may result in alternator or vehicle electrical-system damage.
